BradyID Calculators

One of the ways the merchandising team was able to move quickly and avoid developer backlogs was to use an external system to create calculators for customers looking to estimate which product or consumable best suited their needs. These were iFramed onto an otherwise empty page when I started, leaving a lot to be desired from a UX, UI, and SEO perspective.

Researched via Analytics, mocked up in Sketch, and tested with UsabilityHub.

Get Content on the Page

Our challenge was three-fold: update the templates to be on-brand, simplify the interface for customers, and make the page content-rich so it looked like a proper page on the site and could gain better SEO traction.

We ripped everything out of the calculator that we could and rewrote copy for the page. We also removed additional end-of-form links that couldn’t be tracked and placed them under the calculator so that whether you filled out the form or not, our page had proper cross-links for anyone interested.

Clean, Branded, Simple

This not just helped our customers by giving them a more simple and straightforward form to focus on, but it increased page traffic and cross-linking ability for these pages, making them even more valuable to the company.

An added bonus is that all this was done while still being manageable by the merchandising team (with some light image work by designers, as needed).
